Having a perfect eye is critical to achieving a completely finished face. If done correctly, you will always look put-together. However, if not done properly, you may appear overdone. We will discuss which eye makeup products you need to create both a natural and dramatic look. These are two styles that every woman should know how to do.
You’ll only need a handful of products to achieve a natural-looking eye, as opposed to using more dramatic makeup for a night out. Here’s when to use each product:
It’s no secret that well-groomed eyebrows can make or break your look. Though you should definitely seek professional help to maintain your brows (waxing, threading, plucking, etc.), at home, a brow cream applied with a light hand can do wonders to tame and shape your brows for both natural and formal occasions.
Your eye shape can appear wider with the right lash style. Use an eyelash curler to lift your lashes, followed by volumizing mascara to keep them looking full. This particular mascara is designed to both lift and separate lashes for a beautiful effect that is still defined, as well as nourish them with propeptides.
Although fake lashes are popular, they can look very unnatural if not done properly. In fact, they can be harmful to your natural lashes. Unless you need them for a camera appearance, stick with lash treatments that will give you dark and full-looking lashes without the risk.
By adding eyeliner to your upper and lower lash lines, you not only help define your eyes but also make them stand out amongst the rest of your facial features. Too much eyeliner can actually have the opposite effect, making the eyes look smaller. This pencil keeps the lids hydrated during application for a defined eye that lasts throughout the day.
Primers are good for making your shadow stay put and avoid creasing, but they often contain harsh chemicals that can dry out your skin. Instead, use a long-wearing, crease-resistant shadow to make your eyes stand out while keeping your eyelids healthy and hydrated.
When you’re going out for the night, you might want a variety of shadow colors with some shimmer. But during the day, all you need is a light color on your eyelids. If you take this tip from us, then apply some luminizer in the center of your lids, it will draw attention to your eyes in a natural way.
The correct tools can make any task simpler. We adore using our fingers to gradually heat natural products before easily blending them onto our lids, but if you don’t want to get your hands dirty, utilizing the proper brush will ensure products are applied correctly.
If you’re new to eyeliner, a pencil is the best type to start with. You can create similar dramatic looks with liquid liner, but it’s much easier to control. Plus, it’s difficult to find liquid liners that fit all of the criteria many people look for nowadays: vegan, cruelty-free, and with a clean ingredient list.
You can easily have fun with your eyeshadow colors by following a few simple tips. Whether you’re getting ready for a party or just want to try something new, these guidelines will help ensure that the hues you pick work well together.
The colors that look best on you depend on your skin tone. Your skin tone can be used to guide all of your makeup choices, from foundation to eyeshadow. Once you know what undertone family you belong to, choosing the right shades of eyeshadow will be a breeze.
Skin tone and undertone can be tricky to figure out, but fortunately, we have a full tutorial on how to determine each. Just click here.
While your eye color does play a role in choosing eyeshadow colors, it is not as important as your skin tone. Any shade of eyeshadow can be complementary to any color of eyes, but using soft and neutral hues will flatter all palettes.
If you want to achieve a natural, everyday look with your eyeshadow, stick to one color. For days when you’re feeling bolder, try using three shades that complement each other.
Regardless of the number of colors you use, focus on blending them together for a more seamless appearance. You can also use your fingers instead of a brush if that’s easier for you.
Your entire lid should be a neutral color. Make sure the shade you choose has undertones that match your skin tone and is lighter than the other two shades of shadow you will use. Apply this shade to the middle of your lid, sweeping outward.
Gently dab a small amount on the inner lid, too. Matte colors can actually be really great base colors, especially if your palette has shimmery shades!
In the crease of your lid, you’ll apply a shade that is darker than your base color but still relatively neutral. To apply, begin in the middle of your lid at the crease and sweep the shadow gently upward and outward.
If glamour is what you’re going for, colors like bronze or copper add illumination here while still appearing natural.
To create definition, use the darkest eye color on the outer third corner of your eyelids. Apply the product in a wedge shape with your fingertip or a small brush to the bottom outer corner of your lid and then blend colors together from the outer-middle portion outward, but not quite reaching the middle point.
A small bit of luminizer is all you need to highlight the inner corner of the eye. If you use too much, it can make your eye look as though it’s set too far back. So just one swipe will do. Use your finger to blend the luminizer toward the middle of your lid for a natural finish.
Create dramatic or natural looking eyes by focusing on using the right products and not overdoing it. Makeup application is all about experimentation, have fun trying different colors and techniques until you find what works best for you!
