Perfect Bronzer Application In 4 Simple Steps

How to Apply Bronzer for a Flawless, Sun-Kissed Look

We all crave that sunkissed look, but it’s not worth the skin damage. By adding a few extra steps to your skincare routine, you can get that beautiful glow without exposing yourself to harmful UV rays.

Bronzers are perfect for eliminating dull winter skin and giving yourself a natural sunkissed look. They work for everyone, no matter your skin tone. But be careful! If you don’t apply it correctly, it can make you look orange, heavy, and even dirty.

At 100% Pure, we understand that both protecting your skin from harmful sun rays and maintaining a beautiful complexion are important to you. This tutorial will help you choose the right type of bronzer for your skin tone and teach how to apply it like a professional.

What Is Bronzer?

Bronzer is the solution for anyone searching to get that perfect summertime glow without any sun exposure (and all the harmful chemicals that come with it). With ingredients like scope and natural mica, your skin will look radiant and feel silky smooth.

Helpful Tips Before You Use Bronzer

There are a few key rules to follow when using bronzer if you want your skin to maintain a natural look.

  • You might as well forget about matte bronzers. They never look right when applied because they lack the dimension a sun-tanned, glowy look needs.
  • If you’re new to contouring, practice before trying it on your face. It can be difficult to know how much product to use and where to apply it if you’ve never done it before. Also, bronzer isn’t the right makeup for contouring–face products like foundation or concealer are a better choice.
  • Be careful not to apply bronzer too close to your hairline. This can make your skin and hair look unclean. Instead, focus on keeping the bronzer away from the hairline on your forehead and at your temples.

Another key element to using bronzer is finding one that perfectly suits you.

Why Should I Use a Bronzer?

If your skin looks a little dull, sallow, or just plain drab, consider using a high-quality bronzing powder to give it some natural radiance. Just as a luminizer can create skin that looks naturally dewy and awake, a bronzer can make it look sun-tanned and radiant.

In the hotter months, finding a good bronzer is key to achieving dewy makeup that won’t look overdone.

Choosing The Right Bronzer

It is vital to find the right bronzer for your skin; otherwise, you may end up with an unflattering orange tint. The first step is understanding your skin tone and type.

Skin Tone and Type

It can be tricky to understand skin tone. Skin tone is made up of two parts: your visible skin color and your undertone. Your undertone is the color that shows through your skin. It’s what gives your complexion a warm, cool, or neutral cast. Knowing both your skin tone and undertone is crucial to finding makeup products in the perfect colors—and key to understanding how to use a bronzer correctly.

Another thing to take into account is your skin type. for example, those with oily skin should choose one bronzer, while those combining dry and oily skin should opt for a different kind of bronzer.

Shade

It is essential to choose the right bronzer shade so that you don’t end up looking like a radioactive carrot. 100% Pure’s Cocoa Pigmented Bronzer in particular is an excellent choice because it looks natural, never glittery or heavy.

Our bronzer contains natural, hydrating ingredients like vitamin E and cocoa butter to help you achieve a dewy look – perfect for every skin tone!

Composition

Bronzers come in several different formulations.

  • Powder bronzer is one of the easiest type of bronzers to use. They are usually applied with a fluffy brush, which makes it great for blending in order to avoid harsh lines or streaks.
  • Cream bronzer is a type of makeup that can help you look more natural and dewy. Cream bronzers are usually ultra-hydrating, which makes them easy to apply with a makeup brush or your fingertips.
  • If you want a noticeable glow, opting for a liquid bronzer is your best bet. Keep in mind though that it takes some finesse to use this type of product. We recommend using a makeup sponge for best results.

The 100% Pure’s Bronzer is a great choice because it’s hydrating. You can use a specialized bronzer brush or blush brush to apply it, but avoid large powder brushes or kabuki brushes. They might spread the bronzer too much and put sun-kissed color where it doesn’t belong!

First Steps Before Applying Bronzer

The final makeup step should be bronzer–but only after you’ve prepared your skin!

Prep Your Skin

Before you start, make sure your skin is clean and moisturized. If you’re wearing other makeup, put that on first. Apply foundation and concealer before bronzer.

You can use bronzer instead of blush for a more natural look, but if you’re wearing both, only put blush on the apples of your cheeks. Your bronzer should sit slightly higher than your blush does.

Where to Apply

A little goes a long way. You only need to apply bronzer in the places where the sun would naturally kiss and color your skin, such as:

  • Apply the blush just under the eyes, extending outward toward the corners of the eyes. Be sure to avoid putting any color on or near the temples.
  • Add a bit of bronzer to the center of your eyelids; it creates definition and makes your eyes look more awake.
  • For a natural-looking nose, apply bronzer to the bridge. The sun would naturally color the bridge of your nose, and placing a little bronzer on the ridge helps keep it looking believable.

A tip to avoid an amateur makeup look: don’t use bronzer in the shape of a “C” or “3.” Many tutorials teach this method, which involves starting at the temple and dragging bronzer down under the cheekbone and ending on the jawline. However, this does not give you a natural sunkissed look; instead, it will appear overdone and fake.)

How To Apply Bronzer Like a Professional Makeup Artist

Follow these four foolproof steps to acing your bronzer application!

     1. Makeup Routine.

If you’re not going makeup-free today, put on the rest of your face first, like eyeshadow. You won’t need to use a lot of bronzer on your lids–just enough so it shows. Also easy application means it won’t ruin the other eye products you’ve already applied.

     2. Begin with your cheeks.

First, take your brush or fingers and apply a tiny amount of product to the area just under your eyes and atop your cheekbones. You want to avoid putting any bronzer too close to the under-eye though, as it may cause redness.

Use small, circular motions when blending the product in order to create a natural look. Additionally, be sure not use a brush that is too large; otherwise you will end up with product below your cheekbones (which isn’t ideal).

     3. Continue on to Eyes

For a natural, sun-kissed look, use bronzer on your lids. After applying eyeshadow, liner and mascara; take your fingertip and lightly add bronzer to the center of your lid.

Softly move it from the center outward toward the edge of your eye avoiding putting any in the inner corner.

     4. Don’t Forget Your Lips

Make sure your lips are healthy and hydrated before you start. Apply a lip balm, then massage it in. If you’re using lipstick or another color, put that on first and then apply the bronzer.

To apply bronzer to your lips, begin at the center of your upper lip and use your finger to lightly dab some outwards. Once you’re done with both top and bottom lips, press them together so there’s shimmer on both sides.”

Other Places to Use Bronzer

Bronzer can do more than just give your face a little color. A dusting of bronzer on your collar bones, shoulders, and even the tops of your knuckles will add shimmer and help reflect light. Even a small amount applied to your shins can draw attention to legs while keeping skin looking radiant.

Effortless Sunkissed Skin

A bronzer is the best way to recreate skin that looks like it’s been on a Tahitian vacation, providing you with a healthy tan without exposing yourself to harmful UV rays.
