How to Exfoliate Your Scalp in the Shower

Gently Scrub Your Scalp in the Shower for Better Hair

As the temperature rises, I’m reminded why summer in New York City is so special. While some may wilt under the scorching sun and humid air, it’s when I truly come alive!

To escape from it all and have a fun time, swimming and basking alternately become our activities of choice as we watch the sunset slowly transform into hues of hot pink and sherbet orange.

My summers are only complete with the ocean, secret swimming holes, and hot tubs, but these all take a toll on my hair. This is why I’m addicted to using hair scrubs, so when I heard about in-shower acupressure massage treatments, I couldn’t wait to give them a try!

This scalp scrub is carefully crafted for ultimate relaxation. Indulge in a moment of bliss as you feel your fingers softly caressing and massaging your scalp, relieving any stress from life’s daily worries. Not only will it leave your hair feeling fresh and clean, but it will also provide an overall sense of tranquility that will make all tension melt away. What could be simpler?

How to Give Yourself a Scalp Massage

  1. For an intense lathering experience, make sure you begin with your hair completely saturated. Let the soap penetrate each strand to give you unparalleled results!
  2. To achieve maximum lathering, scoop generous amounts of the scrub into your hair until you create a luxuriously soft foam that resembles billowing clouds.
  3. Begin at the crown of your head, and gently, slowly spread your fingers down each side of your face. As you continue this motion, move farther back on your head until eventually, you have caressed every inch – from top to bottom and front to rear.
  4. Start by using your fingertips to make small, circular scrubbing motions down the middle of your head from front to back. As you continue this motion, gradually move laterally outwards until both sides of your hair and ears are being massaged with gentle pressure—it’s incredibly satisfying!
  5. Repeat the same forward-to-back pattern, but this time press your fingertips firmly into your scalp as you move from side to side.
  6. To achieve a more voluminous look, use your fingertips and thumb to pinch sections of the scalp from the front toward the back. Start at the center of your head and then fan outward until you reach the desired result.
  7. Finish off the process by zipping up your head: Beginning at each side of your chin, pull both fingers upwards until they meet in the middle of your scalp. Move from the forehead to the nape for a more intense and pleasurable experience as you apply pressure along with it.
