For many of us, we learned how to do our makeup from either a parent or an older sibling. If neither were available, step-by-step tutorials found in magazines became our go-to guide. So it’s no wonder that so many of still don’t know the ins and outs of makeup application. Although there are millions of techniques, styles, and “looks’ you can create with makeup; simply knowing the basics can change the way you see yourself every day when you leave your house each morning.
Although you may feel like you need to conceal your lack of knowledge about makeup, following these easy steps will make it seem as if you are a seasoned pro.
If your foundation doesn’t smoothly blend into your skin or is a different color than your natural skin tone, it’s time to get rid of the cheap drugstore foundation and spongy wedges. Instead, upgrade your technique (and products).
A good foundation starts with having healthy skin. The better condition your skin is, the less time you’ll spend trying to fix an uneven complexion, cover blemishes or under-eye bags, or other areas of irritation.
Thorough skincare requires cleansing, hydrating, and moisturizing. Utilizing natural ingredients derived from plants guarantees the best results for maintaining healthy skin that is prone to drying out.
If you want your makeup to look its best, you need to start with a clean face and apply moisturizer evenly. Oily skin can often be the result of dehydration, so using products with plant botanicals will help balance your skin’s natural moisture levels and prevent blemishes. If you use an eye cream, apply it before beginning your makeup routine. And wait for all skincare products to be absorbed into your skin before moving on to makeup.
Priming your face is essential for a smooth makeup application, and beauty oil is the best primer for all skin types–but especially aging skin. As we get older, our skin loses moisture and becomes thinner. Traditional primers can further dehydrate the skin and cause makeup to settle into fine lines and wrinkles. However, 100% Pure’s Beauty Oil hydrates the skin while plumping up cells so that lines are less noticeable. It also smoothes out rough patches to create an even surface ideal for makeup.
Before you apply any other makeup, start with foundation and concealer. First, apply foundation evenly over your face. Then, focus on concealing imperfections while still allowing some of your natural skin to show through where there are none.
For example, you might have great skin tone on your cheeks, forehead and chin but redness or dark circles under your eyes. To create a natural look, first apply foundation to the nose and eye areas carefully then blend it outwards.
Our Foundation at 100% Pure is buildable and also works as a concealer! Plus, our foundation is made from natural ingredients that give your complexion a living and luminous finish.
Wearing bronzer is not mandatory, but if it’s the middle of summer and you have been trying to avoid sun exposure, adding a bit of bronzer on the high points of your face (cheekbones, bridge of nose, eyelids) can give you a natural-looking tan.
If you want to achieve a natural look, don’t use bronzer for contouring your face; this will make you appear orange. Rather, add blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend it in. If you’re over 40, apply the blush slightly above the apples of your cheeks instead so that it creates lift. Also, avoid extending the color towards your temples as doing this won’t make your cheekbones look higher and is considered outdated.
A luminizer is the one product you need in your cosmetics bag. It’s a hybrid of a highlighter and illuminator that creates believable, radiant skin with just enough light-reflecting shimmer.
On set, our founder discovered the need for a product that would keep models’ skin healthy and glamorous without creating an artificial appearance. Thus, 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Gemmed Luminizer was born. Our natural ingredients not only hydrate your skin but also give it a beautiful radiance.
Brighten your complexion by applying luminizer on your cheekbones, brow bones, nose bridge, cupid’s bow, chin center, and eyelids. You can also use it down your shoulders and arms for a subtle shimmer.
For a simple, go-to look appropriate for any day or occasion, use just a little bit of eyeshadow on your lids, line your eyes with eyeliner, and finish it off with some mascara.
Unless you want to be extra fashionable or are getting ready for an event, using one eyeshadow color or adding a bit of luminizer in the center of your lids will give you some subtlety while still keeping it natural.
To achieve a perfect blend on your eye shadow, start from the outer corner of your lid and work inwards. Use a highlighter in the inner corners of your eyes to reflect light for an illusion of larger eyes.

Use an eye pencil to draw a thin line along your lower and upper lashes, as close to the natural lash line as possible. Do not outline your entire eye just yet unless you are well-practiced.
To do a winged eyeliner, start about 1/3 of the way in from the inner corner of your eye and extend it out to the corresponding point on both upper and lower lashes.
Mascara often gets a bad rap for being messy and difficult to apply. But if you use the right formula, it can be a great way to enhance your eyes. Apply two coats of 100% Pure’s Maracuja Mascara to your top lashes and one coat to the bottom lashes. This mascara contains propeptides that will help build strong, healthy eyelashes without any harsh chemicals or strange ingredients that could harm your eyes or delicate eyelid skin.
Achieving the perfect pout starts with having hydrated lips and being creative with your lip products. You must make sure to exfoliate and hydrate your lips before beginning, or else you’ll end up with bits of lipstick stuck in the dry cracks of your lips.
To make your lips look fuller, start by selecting a lip color that is the same as your natural lip color. This will allow you to change the shape of your lips without it being obvious. Next, use a liner to line your lips, drawing slightly outside your natural lip line.
You can wear both lipstick and lip gloss if you want, but it’s not necessary to use both. Lipstick usually lasts longer than gloss, but some people find gloss more comfortable.
100% Pure’s Lip Caramel is the perfect natural, everyday lip color (that also works amazing as a blush)! Made with wildcrafted buriti oil, shea butter, and organic cocoa seed butter – this lipstick is hydrating and easy to apply.
Lipstick can be applied lightly on your cheeks for a pop of color, all over your lips for a natural look, or concentrated on your cupid’s bow to Create the appearance of freshly bitten lips.
While setting powder is not necessary, some people prefer the matte look it provides. If you choose to use powder, make sure to select a translucent kind in order to avoid an artificial appearance. Translucent powder also helps control oil and keeps makeup in place throughout the day.
A setting powder can give you a semi-matte look without adding an extra layer of thick powder to your skin. When applying, use the powder puff that comes with the “Un” Powder, and focus on your T-zone, under-eyes, the corners of your nose, and your upper lip.
A few quick application techniques and understanding how to make your products work on your skin are all you need for a perfect makeup routine. 100% Pure gives you top-tier products that go beyond traditional beauty standards while being earth-friendly and clean.
