The Perfect Concealer Application

The most vital item in just about anyone’s makeup bag is concealer. Most people don’t need foundation, as applying concealer carefully will let you wear less makeup overall.

The issue with using concealer, which any good makeup artist knows–but Laura Mercier explains it best–is that most people rub it in instead of patting. When yourub, the  Concealer moves from where you’re trying to cover something up and gets smeared onto a different area on your face.

Your life will change for the better if you apply concealer with a brush instead of using the doe-foot applicators that come with thinner formulas. The spongy doe-foot applicators work fine as brushes, but they are not as effective at covering things up.

1. Only apply the product to the specific area you want to see results, whether that be a dark circle, redness, etc. Applying it too liberally will result in wasted product and no visible results.
2. Gently pat the concealer into your skin with your finger. You might think it’s not blending, but give it a few more seconds.
3. Suddenly, it will be blended seamlessly. The problem area will vanish and the rest of your gorgeous skin will take center stage.
