Introducing Retinol 2.0 – Naturally Clean

Non-toxic Solution for Your Skin Care Needs

Retinoids, which are a derivative of Vitamin A, have the strongest and most proven skin benefits compared to other anti-aging or acne solutions. Depending on the strength of each individual formula, retinoids can help increase collagen production for softer lines; promote cell turnover; unclog pores and reduce oiliness; as well as fade existing dark spots to provide your complexion with an even overall tone.

According to Dr. Robert Anolik, clinical assistant professor of dermatology at the NYU School of Medicine, retinoids are superior to all other skin care products when it comes to revitalizing your complexion – and there’s an abundant amount of research that affirms this claim.

According to medical research, tretinoin is a powerful remedy for reversing the effects of sun damage. Not only does it help to produce rosy and glowing skin, but its topical application stimulates healthy blood vessel creation while inhibiting collagen breakdown from UV exposure. Furthermore, tretinoin can even reverse atypia or precancerous cells. All in all, this remarkable skincare treatment leads to smoother texture and diminished wrinkles—and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Retinoids are not only recognized for their excellence in skin care, but also notorious and enigmatic: While these compounds can be used to prevent and even cure some forms of cancer, a few of them may cause birth defects, damage your liver health or increase the risk of other malignancies. To comprehend this dilemma further, begin with Vitamin A -the originator of retinoids.

Vitamin A is an essential nutrient for human life, yet if taken in large doses – although it’s difficult to ingest too much via food sources – can be fatal. As David Andrews, senior scientist at the Environmental Working Group (EWG) expresses, “we do not worry about retinoids appearing in cosmetics other than SPF products”. Excessive levels of Vitamin A are known to damage the liver and other organs within our body. Therefore it is imperative that precautionary measures are strictly adhered to when obtaining this vitamin externally; otherwise we would be putting ourselves at significant risk.

Vitamin A and its retinoids have both beneficial and hazardous effects. Accutane, an oral retinoid prescribed for severe acne cases, has produced miraculous results; however it is notorious for causing birth defects as well as liver damage. Topical forms of this vitamin such as tretinoin are used to treat scarring from acne, signs of aging, or even precancerous lesions – though there can be a serious risk if you don’t limit your usage to night-time and wear sunscreen during the day.

Retinyl palmitate can create more than just redness and peeling; it’s actually a grave issue. In the beauty market, over-the-counter retinols—of which retinyl palmitate is one of them—are frequently utilized due to their anti-aging effects. Shockingly, 30% of SPF products contain this ingredient according to Nneka Leiba, M.P.H., Director of Healthy Living Science at EWG! So be sure that any sunscreen you use does not include retinyl palmitate as an ingredient – the risks don’t outweigh its benefits here.

Studies linking retinol to photo carcinogenicity show that it is only potentially cancer-causing when directly applied and then exposed to either artificial or natural light. This has caused many people concern, especially with the increasing popularity of seemingly harmless skin care products.Unquestionably, we urge consumers to be prudent with retinoids when it comes to products that are applied and worn under the sun. As such, we do not raise a red flag for the use of retinol in night creams since they are unlikely to be exposed to sunlight. Our main concern is for sunscreen products as our research has found them dangerous when combined with retinols.

In addition to being potentially irritating, many traditional over-the-counter and prescribed retinoids are stabilized with parabens and BHT. In 2002, a report in the International Journal of Toxicology connected short-term repetitive exposure to BHT with possible toxic effects on the liver; when applied topically it has been linked to toxicity within lung tissue too. The findings were so concerning that General Mills chose to eliminate their usage of this ingredient from all their cereals in 2015.

Conventional beauty products rarely reveal the presence of BHT in retinoids, and even raw material suppliers tend to remain unaware if their retinols contain it. This means that BHT may be present in some formulas despite not being listed on product labels.

Transparency is key when it comes to clean retinols, and that’s why Tata Harper uses only the highest quality ingredients. Our retinol is extracted from rosehips, which are rich in vitamin A. By using plants with high retinol content, we’re able to provide our customers with all the benefits of retinol without any of the harsh chemicals. Rosehip is truly an amazing ingredient, containing high levels of both vitamins A and retinoic acid. This provides skin with the positive effects of retinol without some of its more unwelcome characteristics such as extreme dryness. The retinoic acid slowly releases over time when it converts into the formula’s active form -retinol- within the skin itself.

The end product of this company’s hard work and dedication is their Retinoic Nutrient Face Oil, which offers superior hydration with no toxic elements. This face oil also boasts a variety of vitamins that will improve your complexion while providing plumping benefits courtesy of its botanical extracts!
