In 1998, my father was diagnosed with stage-four throat cancer. Despite undergoing treatment and making it through the next four years, I watched his health gradually worsen until he passed away in 2002. To cope during this difficult period, I delved into the literature of Eastern medicine to explore its potential healing capabilities—only to attempt to persuade my dad of its efficacy without much success.
Acupuncture was his favorite, but macrobiotic food put him off. Somewhere I read that in Asia, not seeking medical help until you were already ill was similar to attempting to draw water from a well when parched and thirsty. This touched me personally, as many of us are no strangers to health afflictions. Fortunately for me, three physicians have come through with highly beneficial advice; following their guidance has enabled me to overcome some seriously troubling wellness issues. Here they share their perspectives and suggestions on how we can attain optimal health!
Combining the ancient wisdom of Ayurvedic medicine, the modern principles of osteopathic medicine, and my common sense, I help performance artists and dancers develop a balanced diet that provides them with enough energy to perform. My nutrition journey began when these individuals were seeking an equilibrium between their physical well-being and having sufficient vitality for their work. With this approach, they can achieve optimal health!
My goal is to not only acquire nutritional advice for a healthier body but also better sleep patterns, coping strategies for stress management, and improved overall health of the mind-body-spirit connection. Traditional medicine focuses on eliminating toxic waste from the body while creating balance to achieve optimal well-being.
1. Arm yourself against processed carbs, including white flour and sugar, to maintain your health and well-being.
2. Carefully preventing the inclusion of any hazardous elements (for instance, heavy metals like tuna) and foods loaded with chemical preservatives or flavorings is essential to maintaining healthy eating habits.
3. Consuming a minimum of one to two liters of pure water daily can help support the body’s natural detoxifying and cleansing processes.
4. For the most nutritional and flavorful benefits, enjoy fruits and vegetables that are fresh, ripe, and free of chemical fertilizers whenever possible.
5. Eliminating tea, coffee, dairy, and alcoholic beverages from your diet can help you stay healthy.
6. Nourish your body with the nutritious power of organic, ripe fruits and vegetables for improved health and vitality.
7. Incorporating protein sources such as white fish and poultry into each meal is essential for a balanced diet.
8. To combat the adverse effects of stress on your body, ensure that you get at least eight hours of quality sleep each night and incorporate some form of relaxation into your daily routine, such as yoga, meditation, or exercise.
