You’re Missing a Step in Your Skincare Routine!
Dry brushing has amazing benefits like making you feel more awake, refreshed, and it also leaves your skin feeling silky smooth. You should dry brush right before you get in the shower every morning!
Incorporating dry brushing into your daily routine is key, especially if you’re looking to detox. The act of using a soft yet firm brush to lightly scrub the skin can improve circulation and lymphatic drainage, eliminate dead skin cells, unclog pores, reduce cellulite appearance, and boost energy levels.
The long dry brush is great for hard-to-reach places, while the shorter one will fit snugly in your hand.
Something that hardly any other things can do is make you feel just as good when you do it to yourself as when someone else does it to you; dry brushing is one of those few things. What’s more, it’s incredibly easy to add to your normal routine.
Most professionals say that they recommend dry brushing in the morning instead of before sleep because they think doing so has invigorating results.
Before using a brush on your skin, some people prefer to put body oil on the brush. If you opt for this method, be sure to shower before using the brush. On the other hand, if you don’t use oil with the brush, shower after using it instead; then follow up by applying either oil or lotion to avoid dry skin. Using a sauna or steam in conjunction with skin brushing is also delightful!
What You’ll Need for Dry Brushing:
- A good quality dry brush
- Coconut oil or other natural body oils.
Guide on How to Dry Brush:
Start from the bottom and work your way up when you do it yourself, or if you’re starting on your arms, begin at the hands. Use firm pressure with small strokes that go upward, or use a circular motion.
As for the stomach area, massage in clockwise motions. Remember: Harsh exfoliation is never desired; make sure not to press too hard down nor use a brush that’s extremely stiff.
Be gentle when you brush or exfoliate your skin—you don’t want to break it! I’ve tried using brushes that are too harsh and end up doing more damage than good. That’s why I chose medium-soft cactus bristles for our skin brush—they’re gentler on the skin. Spend at least three to five minutes dry brushing every day.
