DIY Green Tea Face Mask for All Your Skin Woes

Help fight acne, wrinkles, and dull skin with 4 simple yet potent ingredients in a green tea face mask.

Green Tea Face MaskLegend has it that green tea was first drunk in 2737 BCE, by the mythical Chinese sage and agriculturalist Emperor Shennong. It’s common knowledge that this ancient drink has powerful health benefits: it contains vitamins B6, E, and C, as well as plenty of healthy minerals. And here’s some great news for DIY junkies: These properties of green tea also make it excellent for skin care!

Lemon in Green Tea Face Mask

Why use a green tea face mask?

While there are plenty of green tea products on the market today, a DIY green tea face mask can be a great, affordable, and low-maintenance option to boost skin health and radiance. The ingredients rest on your face for longer, meaning your skin are able to absorb more of the nutrients. In other words, it’s a potent treatment to target a range of skin woes, and is ideal for all skin types.

Our mask features yogurt to balance your skin’s bacteria, lemon juice to gently resurface and brighten for glowing skin, and honey to hydrate and soothe.

Green tea face mask recipe

To make the mask, combine 1 teaspoon of matcha green tea powder, 1/2 teaspoon of yogurt, 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice, and 1/2 teaspoon of honey in a bowl. Whisk with a fork until evenly combined.

To use the mask, start with freshly washed, dry skin. You may want to cover your face with a warm washcloth for a minute or two before applying the mask: This will open your pores, allowing the ingredients to sink more deeply into your skin. Apply the face mask evenly over your skin with your fingers or a brush. Because green tea is great for your undereye area, don’t hesitate to apply the mask right up to your eyelids, or over your lips! Wait 15 minutes for the mask to sink in, then rinse it away and enjoy your healthy glow!
